What to Expect from an Event Planner

Today everyone is time poor so it is often easier to employ a professional event planner to ease the pain and stress of organising an event.
There are lots of qualities an event planner must portray but I will endeavour to list a few to help you, if you choose to go down this path.
To Do ListThe most important quality for an event planner / organiser / manager is organization! If you want someone to ensure that your event goes smoothly then they should know the ins and outs of every event. They should have a system that allows them to refer to your event easily with minimal fuss at a moments notice.
Any organizer should have an intimate knowledge of venues, suppliers and other information that you wouldn’t necessarily think about.
They should also be creative and offer suggestions that will enhance your event, such as unique décor and venue ideas. Before deciding on a planner, gauge if they are at the forefront of design, catering and entertainment.
Your chosen planner should be able to work under pressure whilst still maintaining a friendly helpful service to your guests. They need to be flexible, allowing for changes you want to make to ensure your event remains yours.
Lastly your planner should be passionate about your event. In reality most events for professionals are very similar in nature but it is important that the person you choose feels excited about your event and that it is as special to them as it is to you.
There are many types of planners / managers / organisers to choose from so how do you work out who is right for you? Try these methods:

  •  Word of mouth
  • Check out any references should they supply them. If they can’t ask why?
  • Do you emotionally connect with the person who is going to take charge of your special event? Do you feel comfortable with them and do you trust them to fulfil your wishes?
